Privacy notice
What this website collects about you, why, where it is kept, and what you can ask us to do with it. A two-minute read.
Who we are
RoughDigits is an independent consulting practice on technology spend, AI spend and governance, based in Singapore and working with clients worldwide.
For anything about your personal data, write to our data protection contact: dave.m@roughdigits.com.
What we collect
- From the contact form: your name, your organisation if you give it, your work email and your message. The form sends them straight to our business email.
- From every visit: our web host's normal server records of your internet address, the page asked for, the time and your browser type.
The form also has a hidden field and notes when the page was opened. Both only stop spam robots and are not kept.
Why
We use your message only to read and answer your enquiry. The server records are used only to run the website and keep it secure.
If you are in the European Union, the law asks us to name our reason. For your enquiry, it is taking the steps you ask for before a possible contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to messages sent to us. For the server records, it is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
We never use enquiries for marketing emails or newsletters, and we never sell them.
Who sees it and where it is held
- Hostinger hosts the website, runs the contact form and keeps the server records.
- Google holds our business email. Enquiries are kept only in that mailbox.
Either company may store this information outside Singapore. Nothing from an enquiry is passed to anyone else.
How long we keep it
An enquiry that does not lead to work is kept for 12 months, then deleted. If it does lead to work, it becomes part of that client relationship and is handled under the terms agreed with that client.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In the European Union you can also object to how we use it, ask us to limit that use, or ask for a copy to take elsewhere.
Write to dave.m@roughdigits.com. We answer within 30 days.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) in Singapore or, in the European Union, to the data protection authority where you live.
