Why this practice exists
Technology spend used to arrive on a few big contracts. Now it arrives everywhere: subscriptions bought by teams, cloud bills that change by the hour, and AI coming in three ways at once. The FinOps Foundation's State of FinOps 2026 found 98% of its respondents now manage AI spend, up from 31% two years earlier (read 03/10/2026).
